Program Description:
Project Description:
Drawing upon methodology from synthetic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, and medicinal chemistry, research in the Parsons lab focuses on the development of small molecule tools to study the physiological roles of intramembrane hydrolases and better understand the biological fates of their substrates.  As part of this research, students will learn a variety of techniques; these may include small molecule synthesis, gel electrophoresis, Western blotting, and molecular cloning.  In addition, students will read scientific papers related to their research. Students should be currently enrolled in or have completed CHEM 205 to be eligible to apply.

Interested students should contact Professor Parsons (wparsons@oberlin.edu) to discuss the possibility of participating in research prior to submitting their application.
