Learn the basics of business from Hollywood insider and Oberlin trustee, Steve Dolcemaschio! Business for Life offers you an overview of business from both corporate and personal perspectives. Individual units will focus on the areas of Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, & Legal. Students will learn practical skills (personal and corporate branding, business plans, financial statements, credit cards, mortgages, insurance, demographies, valid contracts) as well as the qualities necessary to succeed in business, the non-profit sector, and the arts: successful leadership, partnership, collaboration, and creativity. Other segments will lightly touch on Process Management, Technology, Facilities Management, and Business Development, with an emphasis on efficient workflow, leasing, space planning, mechanization, and keeping a business relevant.
Guest speakers will occasionally join the class to share their experience & insights. Classroom participation is an integral part of the experience. Assignments will be very engaging, mostly team focused and fun.
