WT Program Focus: Artistic Work

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The year 2020 marks the 250th year since Ludwig van Beethoven's birth. Oberlin will join cities across the world to celebrate and honor this extraordinary composer. In early March, 2020, Oberlin conservatory students will perform the complete cycle of string quartets, seventeen masterpiece over five concerts. 
Up to 32 students, formed into string quartets will study and perform Beethoven quartets. Ensembles are expected to rehearse at least three hours per day and will receive two coaching per week by conservatory faculty. There will be weekly performance classes and seminars, and the project will culminate in a concert by all the groups. 
Priority to pre-formed groups. Repertoire will be assigned with consultation of the faculty.
