Program Description:

PLEASE NOTE:
Students applying for an internship through the Career Development Center must submit an application through Handshake by November 12th at 5:00PM

Project Description:
Winter Term is a great time to explore your career field of interest and apply your skills and knowledge from the classroom. Each year, Oberlin alumni and friends of the College host Obie interns during Winter Term in a wide variety of career industries and locations.

Students interested in pursuing a Winter Term internship have the option to be sponsored by the Career Development Center (CDC) in one of two ways:
1) Apply for an internship coordinated by the CDC - Applications to potential employers must be submitted through Handshake by November 12th at 5:00PM.
2) Self-secure their own internship

Students who wish to secure an internship through the Career Development Center are required to register for this group project and students who are securing their own internships are invited to register to gain sponsorship and additional support from the Career Development Center.  All participants will attend two workshops prior to their internship experience and create an e-Portfolio at the end of their internship.  This opportunity allows you to learn how to make the most of your experience in a group setting prior to your internship.

This group project is Selective.  Students who apply are not guaranteed an internship through the Career Development Center and must apply to these opportunities separately through Handshake.  Students who are selected for internships will be approved for credit.  Any student who is securing their own internship will be approved for winter term credit.

The deadline to apply for an internship coordinated by the CDC is Friday, November 12th. For more information and to apply for an internship, visit the Career Development Center’s Winter Term internship webpage or contact the CDC directly at internships@oberlin.edu.

Students will likely need to complete their winter term registration before they have received an internship offer.  The Office of Winter Term will work with students to update details of their project and support students who are unable to find placements.

Number of Students: 75

Project Fee:  While there is no fee to participate in this project, there are costs involved with travel, lodging, food, and transportation related to an internship.  Students may apply for need-based funding for this project in the Winter Term project application.  Students may estimate costs if they are not yet sure where their internship will take place.

Project Dates: January 25th - February 17th
