Apply to this program if you have selected a non-affiliated program and want to request approval. A non-affiliated program is any semester or year-long program that is not on Oberlin's affiliated list. Please see the list of affiliated programs here
A non-affiliated program is one that has not been nominated by an Oberlin department or program and has not been approved by the Off Campus Study Committee. This means that without special approval, it is more difficult to transfer credit and that no Oberlin need-based aid or scholarship will transfer to the cost of the semester.
There is no guarantee that a non-affiliated program application will be approved. Students must apply to an affiliated program in addition to applying for a non-affiliated program in case the non-affiliated program is not approved. If your non-affiliated program is approved, it means that Oberlin financial aid or scholarship WILL apply to the cost of the semester.
The Off Campus Study Committee will consider your program application in light of the following criteria:
a. Academic strength of the program
b. The relationship between this program and your own program of study.
c. Other currently affiliated programs in this area.
d. Administrative structure of the program with particular attention to safety and security issues
e. Cost of the program
